My Arabic Adventures

So, while in Jordan I will be attempting to study/take Arabic 102 so when I return in the fall I can enroll in 201 and progress with my Arabic instead of stagnating.  In an effort to do this I have been sending emails to the Arabic professors asking them what to do. This is the reply I received today:

"Skye,
I don't encourage people to do 102 on their own, whether here or in Jordan.  I have had several people try to do it and most fail.  However, a few have succeeded, so it is possible.  There is no regular 'challenge test' for 102, so if you do it, in the fall you would simply sign up for 201, and hang on. "

So, I guess I get to work hard and hopefully just catch up in the fall!  I sure hope this works!

A Little Background

I figure I should start off by introducing myself to anyone who's going to read this.  My name is Skye, and I am currently an International Relations Major at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.  I have an emphasis in Middle Eastern Studies and am currently enrolled in beginning Arabic.  This summer I have the wonderful opportunity to travel to Jordan and work as an intern for the Jordanian Ministry of Social Development.  I will be in Jordan for the entire summer and am really excited for this amazing opportunity.  Currently I am finishing up classes at BYU and will be traveling to Jordan in early May.  Until then, I'll update you on the preparations!
